Had a lovely meal here in a pub that I would say is walk and dog friendly. It is definitely what you would call a rural pub but the food is still excellent.

We attended on Sunday 17th and unfortunately the standard of service and food has plummeted. We pre booked but upon arrival we waited a good 10 mins to be seated, the staff seemed awfully flustered by the amount of guests in the pub at the time. We had one starter freezing cold and was sent back, and 3 roast dinners, all vegetables cold and potatoes uncooked.
Although a lovely looking pub, with usually amazing food and atmosphere, it’s seems the standards have slipped and the restaurant are taking on too many booking then they can handle.

Love this pub, lovely location, always have a drink here after a walk around the reservoir. Do good food and too. (Edited) I have been visiting this pub for over 10years. The last time I visited it wasn't too busy but I saw many tables empty with "reserved" signs on so i knew it would be soon. We grabbed a low table for two as we didn't want to take a higher table where people could eat from and ordered drinks. There was no reserved sign on the table. Within 20mins a lady approached us and advised we'd have to move in 20mins cause the table was "reserved" for a couple having food. I'm normally quite assertive and wanted to say there was no sign but as I'd have such a good walk I didn't want to get myself upset. We continued to finish our drinks. 10mins later a lady with a dog arrived at the bar and said " hi, I've just rang up and booked a table for 2, sorry Im a bit early,is it available now" then a few seconds lady the same lady came back to us and apologised and asked us to vacate our table. The one that was reserved whilst we were sitting at it. I'm enormously disappointed by this. As a valued customer I was ejected for a customer just because they were eating. This is no way to run a business and dispite how much I used to love this pub, I will not be using it again and risking being told to move.

Wow wow wow the Sunday roast was yes wow lol. Really tasty and fresh.
The staff were so friendly and nice towards our dog too. Nothing was an issue and the price was reasonable too.

The duck is a regular stop off point when walking. You know what you'll get and it's good solid place. Parking on site is limited but if you are okay to walk you'll find adequate parking around the area and down to Entwistle res.
The inside is lovely but the outside often looks a bit tatty and unkempt no matter what angle you approach. The grey paint does nothing to help and the exterior feels more foreboding than welcoming.
The service is often delivered by young staff who are without exception good. The food feels what it should in that it's good pub grub, often with a local nod and home made. I was really pleased the kids pie was a proper individual pie and properly made. So often kids menus are chips nuggets and chips or a frozen pizza, my kids appreciate good propper food and they're the future customers. The only complaint is they won't really take customisations or off menu requests (computer says no) as some places will.

Amazing country pub, very cozy and the food was delicious. Nice pint of San Miguel after a nice walk around Entwistle Reservoir which it is right near.

Amazing Wednesday ‘steak night’ deal! £20 for 2 main courses including a bottle if wine! There is a ‘live’ musician playing & singing too. The food is super tasty,hot & plentiful. The atmosphere is welcoming. The only negative is the very limited parking.

MAKE SURE TO BOOK BEFORE GOING FOR A DRINK!
We went for a walk and then ended up at the pub but were turned away because there wasn’t any room and that there is never any room unless you book. Food looked good but staff weren’t very accommodating.

Had a meal here with a party of 5. Excellent staff and decor, very clean with lovely real fires. Would highly recommend. Food took an hour to reach the table but his isn't a problem as there are signs stating that the food is freshly prepared and may take a while to reach the table.. Fantastic food which was definitely worth the wait. We enjoyed this place so much we have booked for a weekend stay.

Excellent food and service. My Tandoori Chicken Hanging Kebab was huge, with lots of delicious marinated chicken. Mum and Dad enjoyed their fish and chips too. Desserts delicious too with home-made cheesecake. Attentive service too- thank you!
